Even with excellent dental care, it is occasionally necessary to restore defective tooth substance with dentures. This can be done with fixed restorations, for example with crowns or bridges made of all-ceramics, veneering ceramics or gold.

Repairs and relining’s
In case of unfavorable loading conditions and ill-fitting dentures, a denture can break. Fine hairline cracks spread slowly and unnoticed until the denture breaks even under normal loading conditions in the jaw.
The denture must then be reassembled and relined. Re-lining a denture means adapting it to changes in the shape of the jaw (receding gums). The relining is only necessary if there is a clear deviation between the inside of the denture and the gum surface (denture bearing).
Usually relining’s are made indirectly, i.e. via an impression (so-called relining impression).
